Lessons from Groundhog Day

Can you hear the words “Groundhog Day” without flashing to the movie classic with Bill Murray?

In the movie, every day is a replay of the one that came before.

Bill Murray’s character fails to understand why this is happening. Nothing he does can help him escape. He experiences despair and tries to end it all many times, only to wake up the next morning to “I Got You Babe” playing on the clock radio.

You might feel like you’re in your own private version of Groundhog Day. It’s hard to create oases in space and time when each day looks so much like the day before.

You are not alone! This is also the experience of your prospects, clients and family and friends.

Bill Murray’s character broke out of his despair by observing he could get a little better every day by applying the lessons he learned the days before. The spell was broken when he embraced the conversations and circumstances he knew he could predict. He showed up and became fully engaged.

You can, too.

What are you learning about your prospects and clients that can help you perform just a bit better today? How can you, too, show up and become more fully engaged today?
